Agathaland

After the death of M.C. Beaton, the producers of the Agatha Raisin television series Free@Last TV wanted to produce a documentary that celebrated her life and work. Commissioned by Sky, Agathaland combined the behind-the-scenes story of the making of the Agatha Raisin television show with M.C. Beaton's personal story, told through the words of those that knew her.

In August of 2022, producer Barry Ryan began compiling photos, interviews and television clips of M.C. Beaton along with interviews with her agent Barbara Lowenstein, UK editor Krystyna Green, longtime friend and Fleet Street colleague Anne Robinson, and son Charlie Gibbons. These were intertwined with interviews with cast members from the series, such as Ashley Jensen, Matthew Horne and Jamie Glover. Penelope Keith, the actress who played Agatha Raisin in the BBC radio plays and who has read for many of the audiobook versions of the novels, provided the narration.

The show finally aired on Sky on May 7th, 2023.
